Mountain Vista Drive Fatal Pedestrian Accident
ENCINITAS, Calif. (Nov. 2, 2018) — A 54-year-old woman died Thursday night when she was struck by a vehicle on Mountain Vista Drive in Encinitas, according to the San Diego Union Tribune.
The crash was reported about 6:40 p.m. on Mountain Vista Drive, just east of El Camino Real, police said.
Police say the victim was crossing mid-block on Mountain Vista Drive carrying bags of recyclables when an eastbound Toyota Corolla struck her in the roadway, Chavez said. She suffered major injuries and died at the scene.
The driver in the Toyota Corolla stopped and remained at the scene where they were questioned by police and later released. Alcohol and or drugs were not suspected as factors in the deadly collision.
Encinitas Crash Investigation
Police are reviewing the evidence and any witness statements to determine fault. It’s unknown at this time what factors led to the crash. The investigation will also consist of looking at measurements of evidence left by the vehicles such as point of impact, final resting positions of the vehicles, skid marks, and gouge marks.
