
Suspect in White SUV Sought in Deadly Crash on Atlantic Avenue
LONG BEACH, Calif. (Jan. 23, 2025) — Enrique Barajas, 80, died Monday following a hit-and-run crash while riding a bicycle near Atlantic Avenue and Pleasant Street in Long Beach.
The Long Beach Police Department responded to the traffic collision around 12:15 p.m. on Jan. 20th, according to a police report and KTLA.
Authorities say the elderly bicyclist was riding northbound on Atlantic Avenue and merged into another lane when he was hit by a white SUV traveling in the same direction.
The SUV sideswiped the bicyclist and continued driving without stopping.
Paramedics responded and transported the injured man to the hospital in critical condition.
The next day, Enrique Barajas died from his injuries at the hospital.
Meanwhile, police are searching for the suspect in the white SUV who failed to stop after the collision.
