Driver killed in a 4-vehicle crash on Highway 4 in Antioch.
ANTIOCH, Calif. (Sept. 14, 2021) — Eqbal Khan, 56, of Discovery Bay, died last Friday in a multi-vehicle crash on Highway 4 in Antioch, Contra Costa County.
The driver of a black Chevrolet Tahoe SUV died in a crash involving his SUV, a white Infiniti G37, a grey Toyota Corolla and a semi-truck.
Additionally, the collision happened about 1:40 p.m. on Sept. 10 in the westbound lanes of Highway 4, just east of the Hillcrest Avenue exit.
Also, the Contra Costa County Coroner’s Office identified the Discovery Bay man as Eqbal Khan.
According to East Bay Times, the driver in the Infiniti reportedly drove merged between the victim’s Chevrolet Tahoe and the semi truck traveling behind the Tahoe, the California Highway Patrol said. As the Infiniti changed lanes, it struck the Tahoe and caused it to veer into the center guardrail. The Infiniti came back into traffic lanes where it was struck by the semi truck and a grey Toyota Corolla.
Meanwhile, investigators do not believe drugs and alcohol were factors in the crash.
Finally, the CHP is heading up the investigation into the crash and will determine fault.
