Suspected DUI Driver in Huntington Beach Fatal Head-On Crash ID’d as Eric Kinser, 35
HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA (January 19, 2021) – Authorities detained Eric Kinser after a fatal DUI crash along Pacific Coast Highway in Huntington Beach.
Police determined that the 35-year-old Sunset Beach man was under the influence of alcohol when the wreck occurred on Tuesday evening.
The incident happened when Eric Kinser was driving a white 2007 Dodge Ram pickup truck north on Pacific Coast Highway near Warner Avenue.
Kinser then crossed over the center median into southbound lanes. He struck a silver 1999 Toyota Solara and a white 2012 Lexus RX350 head-on.
2 Killed, 1 Badly Injured in Pacific Coast Highway Collision
The 71-year old Huntington Beach woman operating the Lexus died at the scene. Paramedics rushed the driver of the Toyota, a 19-year-old Newport Beach man, to UCI Medical Center, where he passed away.
Medical personnel took a 45-year old female passenger in the Lexus to OC Global Medical Center with moderate injuries. The names of the deceased and wounded victims have not been yet released.
Officials also transported Kisner to UCI for treatment of unspecified injuries. Meanwhile, authorities soon arrested him on suspicion of DUI.
