Major Injury Head-on Crash Near Calistoga
CALISTOGA, Calif. (July 9, 2021) — Eric Valencia Jr., 33, of Santa Rosa, is among two injured in a head-on crash Thursday morning just outside Calistoga.
Valencia suffered minor injuries in the collision with another motorist about 6:30 a.m. on July 8th, according to a California Highway Patrol report.
The second driver, identified as Kevin Young, 33, of Windsor, suffered major injuries in the collision.
2 Injured in Highway 29 Collision
Valencia was heading southbound on Highway 29 in a 2015 GMC Sierra. At the same time, Young headed north in a 2011 Ford Mustang coupe.
For unknown reasons, the Ford Mustang allegedly crossed the center line just north of Azalea Springs Road, according to a California Highway Patrol spokesperson.
Both drivers suffered injuries in the crash. An ambulance transferred Eric Valencia to Providence Queen of the Valley Medical Center, police said.
Meanwhile, a second ambulance transported Young to the same hospital for treatment of major injuries.
Finally, investigators continue to piece together what happened.
