Eric von Metzke San Diego Junior Theatre Instructor Convicted Sex with Girl 16
SAN DIEGO, California (June 22, 2017) —Eric von Metzke, 35, has been to three years in state prison after he was arrested for allegedly having sex with a 16-year-old student he met at the San Diego Junior Theatre where he was a seasonal instructor, according to the San Diego County District Attorney.
Von Metzke was accused and convicted of engaging in sexual acts with the teenager in October 2016. The San Diego Police Department first learned of the incident on Jan. 9, 2017. The executive director of the children’s theater contact them to report the incident with the student and von Metzke. Officials at the theater deny that the sexual encounter took place on their Balboa Park campus. At first, the student denied the allegation, however, by Jan. 23, the girl and her mother described what happened to police.
On March 14, police arrested von Metzke and he was charged with unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor more than three years younger; oral copulation with a minor; and unlawful sexual intercourse and oral copulation. Von Metzke plead guilty to unlawful sexual intercourse and oral copulation on April 21. He is also going to be required to register as a sexual offender.
