Erika Navarro, 33, Killed in Modesto Crash on Oakdale Road Near Scenic Drive
MODESTO, CA (June 24, 2021) – A DUI crash killed Erika Navarro near Oakdale Road and Scenic Drive in Modesto.
Police identified the 33-year-old Turlock woman as the victim of the fatal collision which occurred on Thursday at about 2 a.m.
The incident happened when Erika Navarro was riding as a passenger in a 4-door sedan speeding north on Oakdale Road in Modesto. At the same time, a pickup truck was going south.
Police said the sedan then spun out of control and crossed into the southbound lanes. In the process, the car then slammed into the truck.
Speeding DUI Driver Hits Another Car
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and pronounced Erika Navarro dead at the scene. The male driver of the sedan sustained moderate injuries as a result of the Modesto crash.
Medical personnel took him to a hospital for treatment. Police later determined that he was under the influence when he struck the other car involved.
Authorities soon placed the man under arrest on charges of murder, vehicular manslaughter and DUI. Meanwhile, the motorist in the truck ended up with minor wounds.
The Modesto Bee and FOX 40 News wrote that the two vehicles crashed near Scenic Drive and Wylie Drive. The Modesto crash is still under investigation.
