Erin Marlow Wrong-Way Crash Long Beach 91 Freeway Atlantic Avenue

Erin Marlow, 30, Killed in Long Beach Head-On Crash on 91 Freeway at Atlantic Avenue

LONG BEACH, CA (July 25, 2021) – Erin Marlow was killed after a wrong-way crash on the 91 Freeway in Long Beach.

The Coroner’s Office identified the 30-year-old Hemet woman as the victim of the fatal wreck which occurred on Sunday morning.

The incident happened when Erin Marlow was driving a 2016 Chrysler east in the carpool lane of the 91 Freeway in Long Beach.

At the same time, a 2016 Honda was traveling at a high rate of speed west in the eastbound lane. The wrong-way driver, 21-year-old Palmdale resident Sol Mitchell-Hall, then struck the Chrysler head-on.

The two cars crashed at the Atlantic Avenue on-ramp, east of the 710 Freeway. KTLA News and My News LA wrote that the accident took place about 5:20 a.m.

The California Highway Patrol said Erin Marlow and Sol Mitchell-Hall both died at the scene of the Long Beach crash. Paramedics assessed two other people at the site.

CHP initially received reports about the Honda going up to 90 mph in the area of the 91 and 5 freeways in the area of State College and Beach boulevards.

Meanwhile, officers forced all lanes on the eastbound 91 Freeway to shut down for several hours following the wreck. The Long Beach wrong-way crash is still under investigation.
