Erlinda Yong, 86, Killed in Chula Vista Crash on Telegraph Canyon Road
CHULA VISTA, CA (May 18, 2023) – Erlinda Yong was killed after a car crash on Telegraph Canyon Road in Chula Vista.
Police identified the 86-year-old Bonita woman as the victim in the fatal wreck which took place on Monday, May 15.
The incident happened when Erlinda Yong was driving a Honda Odyssey on Old Telegraph Canyon Road in Chula Vista. At the same time, a Ford F-150 was going east on Telegraph Canyon Road.
Police the minivan then made a left turn in the area. In the process, the two cars collided in the 600 block of the roadway near Oleander Avenue.
2 Injured in Wreck
The San Diego Union Tribune and ABC 10 News wrote that the accident occurred at around 1:28 p.m. The Ford rolled over due to the impact of the collision while the Honda crashed onto the sidewalk.
Erlinda Yong and her 83-year-old passenger sustained life-threatening injuries as a result of the crash. Paramedics rushed them to a hospital, where the elderly driver died.
The passenger was listed in critical condition. Medical personnel transported the 24-year-old male motorist in the F-150 truck for treatment of unspecified injuries.
