ESCONDIDO, California (February 22, 2016) — An 11-year-old San Bernardino boy was killed Sunday night when his family’s SUV was struck by another motorists in the northbound lanes of the Interstate Route 15 Freeway at Gopher Canyon Road, according to a report by the San Diego Medical Examiner’s Office.
The fatal crash was reported at 9:31 p.m. last night. The child was seated as a passenger in the back of the SUV when it was hit from behind by a faster-moving vehicle. The SUV overturned and the child was thrown out of the vehicle and landed in the center divider of the freeway. The boy died of his injuries at the scene due to obvious trauma.
Police are investigating the crash and will determine liability and whether charges will be made against a driver.
