3-Vehicle Collision on State Route 78 in Escondido
ESCONDIDO, Calif. (Jan. 31, 2024) — A multi-vehicle Escondido crash happened Wednesday on the eastbound State Route Highway 78 at the Interstate 15 Freeway.
The three-vehicle collision occurred on Ronald Packard Parkway (SR-78) at around 7:15 a.m. on Jan. 31st, according to the California Highway Patrol dispatch.
CHP officials reported a black sedan rolled about 50 feet down the right embankment into a ravine after a collision with a gray SUV and a tan pickup truck in the slow lane.
The report stated the Honda and Kia had major rear-end damage and the pickup truck had major front-end damage. Tow trucks removed the damaged vehicles from the roadway.
Meanwhile, the Escondido Fire Department responded with paramedics to help those injured.
Investigators are working to determine liability.
