Woman, 32, Hit and Killed by Car on East Washington Avenue
ESCONDIDO (June 3, 2018) – A pedestrian was fatally hit by an alleged DUI driver on East Washington Avenue early Sunday, according to San Diego Union-Tribune and CBS 8.
The accident occurred at about 12:15 a.m. in the 1000 block of East Washington Avenue, which is also known as Highway 78.
As per the reports, Escondido police said a 32-year-old woman was crossing Washington Avenue with a male companion when she was struck by a Ford Ranger.
The Ranger driven by 32-year-old Joel Francisco Juan was headed west when he veered to avoid the man but ended up hitting the woman.

Police affirmed that the victim was rushed to the hospital with two broken femurs, as well as multiple internal and head injuries. However, she was later pronounced dead. Her name has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, Juan was believed to have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the collision. He was arrested and taken to Vista Detention Center on suspicion of felony drunken driving and gross vehicular manslaughter.
