Motorcyclist Killed in Escondido Crash at El Norte Parkway and Ivy Street
ESCONDIDO, CA (September 9, 2021) – A motorcyclist was killed after a crash at El Norte Parkway and Ivy Street in Escondido.
According to an article published by the San Diego Union-Tribune, the tragic accident occurred on Thursday afternoon. Officers reported the wreck shortly before 3:30 p.m.
The incident began when a man was riding a motorcycle on North El Norte Parkway in Escondido. At the same time, a vehicle was traveling on North Ivy Street.
Motorcycle Rider and Car Collide
Police said the car then tried to turn from Ivy onto El Norte. For an unknown reason, the driver failed to see the motorcyclist and pulled into his path.
The two then collided in the intersection. Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and confirmed that the rider in his late 40s died as a result of the collision.
The name of the deceased victim remains unreleased pending notification of next of kin. Meanwhile, police did not mention if the other motorist sustained injuries upon impact.
Officers forced El Norte Parkway to shut down at Ivy Street following the wreck. The cause of the fatal Escondido crash is still under investigation.
