At Least 1 Injured in Car Accident on 15 Freeway Wednesday
Escondido, CA (May 26, 2021) – A suspected hit-and-run car crash occurred Wednesday morning on Interstate 15, also known as Avocado Highway, in Escondido.
The California Highway Patrol reported they received reports around 9 a.m. of a vehicle flipped on its roof along the northbound side of the freeway. Officials believed the car hit a gray Ford Fusion, leading to the rollover crash near Valley Parkway.
When emergency teams arrived at the location, they found a passenger partially trapped in the overturned car. Responding firefighters worked extensively to extricate the victim. After pulling out the passenger, paramedics checked their condition and determined they sustained injuries from the crash. The name of the victim, and the extent of their injuries have not been discussed thus far.

The CHP dispatch mentioned the driver of the flipped car fled the scene on foot. Per accident log, the hit-and-run suspect was last seen wearing a long white shirt; and blue jeans. The driver ran away heading east on Valley Parkway.
Investigators handling the case continue to work at this time to determine the identity and location of the suspect in the hit-and-run crash in Escondido.
