ESCONDIDO (October 10, 2016)- According to the San Diego Coroner, Jose Torrez, 33, has been identified as the victim fatally struck in an auto versus pedestrian collision Saturday morning on Ash Street.
Escondido police officials responded to the crash site around 2:05 a.m.
Authorities were informed that Torrez had been at a nearby convenience store prior to the incident and may have been intoxicated.
Moments later he was in the process of crossing Ash Street before being struck by a small sized sedan.
Paramedics quickly arrived as they sadly pronounced the 33-year-old man deceased at the scene due to trauma injuries.
Escondido police have not determined liability at this time as their investigation on the matter remains pending.
