Motorcyclist Injured in Car Accident on Freeway

ESCONDIDO, Calif. (Feb. 27, 2024) — A motorcycle rider was seriously injured Tuesday in a car accident on the southbound Interstate 15 Freeway, just south of Gopher Canyon Road in Escondido.

The multi-vehicle crash occurred at around 7:54 a.m. on Feb. 27th, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP officials reported a 44-year-old man riding on a motorcycle collided with a silver Honda Civic hatchback in the fast lane of the freeway. Two other vehicles may have also been involved, but there are no specific details.

Paramedics from Cal Fire San Diego responded and located the injured motorcyclist who was awake and breathing, but suffering from a back injury and leg injury.

The victim was taken by ambulance to Palomar Medical Center for treatment of a broken femur and other injuries.

The case remains under investigation.
