Woman Hospitalized After Hit-and-Run Collision
Escondido, CA (July 13, 2022) – A 27-year-old Temecula woman suffered serious injuries following a suspected hit-and-run crash that occurred on Interstate 15, the San Diego Union-Tribune News reported.
Auto vs. Motorcycle Crash on Interstate 15 in Escondido
Officials said the woman was riding a red Ducati sport motorcycle traveling on the freeway Tuesday afternoon. When the motorcyclist approached the area near Gopher Canyon Road, an SUV apparently switched lanes ahead of her and cut her off. The sudden movement caused the motorcyclist to slam into the back of the SUV.
Shortly after 4:10 p.m., rescue teams arrived at the location. Responding paramedics found the rider suffering in severe trauma. Given the condition of the victim, medical personnel rushed the victim to a hospital. According to the article published online, the woman underwent surgery on Wednesday and remains in a coma.
Authorities mentioned the driver of the SUV fled the scene. No immediate information was available on the hit-and-run suspect.
At this time, detectives continue to investigate several unclear factors surrounding the crash on Interstate 15 in Escondido.
