ESCONDIDO, California (July 11, 2016) — A motorcyclist was injured Monday morning when the rider was struck by a car as the bike was changing lanes on the southbound Interstate 15 Freeway, near the Highway 78 interchange, a California Highway Patrol report said.
The crash took place about 8:09 a.m. this morning. Police were told by a witness named Dianna that the “car hit the motorcycle when the motorcycle was changing lanes.” The woman described the car as a white 4-door sedan that may have driver’s side damage. She told authorities that a maroon SUV and another motorcycle gave chase in an effort to catch the suspect in the white car after they failed to stop.
The motorcycle was in the center divider area and paramedics were called to help the rider who suffered minor injuries.
Police later got more information about the suspect driver as another witness told them the vehicle was a white Lexus and the driver involved indicated that they did not know they hit something.
The case is being investigated as a hit-and-run crash with injuries.
