Esiguio Campa-Robledo, 54, Killed in Crash on 5 Freeway Near Grapevine
KERN COUNTY (January 7, 2019) – A motorcyclist was killed after a traffic collision on the 5 Freeway early Friday morning, January 4, according to Bakersfield Californian and Kern Golden Empire.
Kern County Coroner’s Office identified as 54-year-old Esiguio Campa-Robledo, of Santa Paula.
As per the reports, California Highway Patrol said Campa-Robledo was riding a motorcycle north on the 5 Freeway when for an unknown reason he abruptly stopped on the right shoulder.
He then walked in a westerly direction across the lanes where he was struck by a white Ford pickup.

The truck, driven by 57-year-old Fort Mogan, Colorado resident Gary Rudnik, was headed north at the time.
The rider ended up lying in the roadway, and was ultimately hit by several other vehicles. The crash occurred at approximately 5:45 a.m., south of Grapevine Road.
CHP affirmed that the man was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Meanwhile, it was not specified whether or not the other motorists involved stopped after hitting Campa-Robledo. The two left lanes of the 5 Freeway were forced to shut down for approximately three and a half hours.
