Esmeralda Perez, 25, ID’d as Speeding Driver in Live Oak Fatal Car Crash
LIVE OAK, CA (October 7, 2022) – Authorities detained Esmeralda Perez after a fatal crash at Highway 99 and Ivy Street in Live Oak.
The sheriff’s office determined that the 25-year-old Yuba City woman caused the collision which took place last month.
The incident began when Esmeralda Perez was driving a red Jeep Cherokee recklessly over double the speed limit in Live Oak. She was traveling in the area of Highway 99 and Ivy Street at the time.
Beatriz Curiel Killed in Wreck
Deputies said the speeding driver then struck a brown Toyota Camry at the intersection. The Appeal Democrat and The Sacramento Bee wrote that the wreck occurred on September 17 at about 4:24 p.m.
Paramedics arrived and pronounced the motorist in the Toyota, Beatriz Curiel, dead at the scene of the collision. Esmeralda Perez sustained non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the crash.
Medical personnel rushed her to a hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, officers soon arrested the suspect for vehicular manslaughter on October 6.
They booked her into the Sutter County Jail in Yuba City in lieu of $100,000 bail. The Live Oak car crash is still under investigation.
