Major Injury Car Accident on Needles Freeway

 ESSEX: Major FedEx Truck Crash Needles (40) Freeway, Kelbaker Road (April 10)ESSEX, Calif. (April 10, 2019) — A FedEx truck and a pickup collided early Wednesday morning on the Needles (40) Freeway.

The collision took place at 4:54 a.m. near Kelbaker Road. The California Highway Patrol reported that a pickup truck was reportedly speeding prior to crashing into the FedEx truck in the No. 2 lane. The pickup overturned in the collision.

A helicopter ambulance was sent to the scene to transport at least one person with major injuries to the trauma unit at University Medical Center in Las Vegas. Firefighters had to extricate at least one trapped person who was in one of the vehicles.

The report indicates that two other semi-tractor trailer trucks were also involved in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation by the CHP.
