Esteban Galindo, 26, Fatally Struck by Car at 3rd and Quintard Street

December 23, 2018 – 26-year-old Esteban Galindo was killed in a traffic collision early Saturday at the intersection of 3rd Avenue and Quintard Street.
According to NBC News, Galindo was riding an electric Bird scooter in the area at about 4 a.m.
Initial reports indicated a vehicle was traveling southbound on 3rd and had the green light. For reasons still under investigation, the driver of that car struck the rear of Galindo’s scooter. The driver claimed Galindo appeared out of nowhere.
Responding CVPD officers gave Galindo CPR at the scene and were able to temporarily get his pulse back. He was rushed to the emergency department at UC San Diego Medical Center but did not survive his injuries.
Meanwhile, the driver reportedly stayed at the scene and was shaken.
The accident scene was closed for more than an hour to give way to the investigation.
