Motorcyclist Killed in Crash with Driver Making U-turn in El Cajon
EL CAJON, Calif. (June 3, 2019) — Ethan Hollander, 27, of Santee, has been identified as the motorcycle rider who was struck and killed Saturday afternoon in a collision on eastbound Olde Highway 80 in unincorporated El Cajon.
The rider was struck by a 19-year-old Jamul woman driving a 2010 Hyundai Accent who allegedly made a U-turn into the path of the pocket bike Hollander was riding, just west of Bond Avenue, the California Highway Patrol said. Police say the woman’s vehicle was parked on the right shoulder prior to her pulling out in front of the motorcycle.
The impact caused the motorcycle rider to be ejected from his bike and critically injured. He was transported by ambulance to Sharp Memorial Hospital, where he later died.
Police say the teenager driving the car stopped and was cooperative with officers. There were no arrests or citations made at this time.
