1 Dead, 3 Injured in Head-on Crash West Elizabeth Lake Road
PALMDALE, Calif. (March 5, 2018) – Eva McCormick, 62, of Palmdale was killed and three others were injured Sunday in a head-on crash in the 2200 block of West Elizabeth Lake Road, according to the Palmdale Sheriff’s Department.
The collision took place about 5:50 p.m. at Louise Lane.
The woman was allegedly driving at high speed in a white Acura when she lost control and crossed over the center divider and crashed head-on into dark-colored 2004 Chevrolet Suburban. McCormick died at the scene of the crash.
Meanwhile, three people who were in the SUV were trapped and had to be extricated by firefighters. The SUV was driven by an 18-year-old man and his parents were passengers. The male driver and his mother were critically injured. They were both transported to Antelope Valley Hospital. The father was taken to Palmdale Regional Medical Center.
The Palmdale Sheriff’s Station is heading up an investigation into the collision.
Palmdale Accident Investigation
An investigation into this collision is underway to determine liability. The initial findings indicate that speed may have been a factor and that the woman who died caused the crash.
If a negligent driver is at fault for a collision that left you injured, there may also be grounds for a civil lawsuit or personal injury claim. This is always a personal decision, but for many the financial losses associated with a traffic accident can be significant.
It’s important to note, however, that it’s quite common for insurance companies to try and avoid paying out a claim even when they know their insured is responsible. They may also make an offer to settle for far less than the full amount owed.
