Several Injured in Multi-Vehicle Collision on I-80
Fairfield, CA (May 22, 2023) – A traffic accident that occurred on the Interstate 80 Freeway resulted in injuries, according to the Reporter News.
Officials said a Honda sedan started traveling east in the westbound lanes of I-80 early Monday morning, May 22. In the area near Abernathy Road, the wrong-way vehicle reportedly sideswiped four other vehicles. The make and model of the other cars involved in the mishap have not been discussed thus far.
Shortly after 1:35 a.m., rescue teams arrived at the location and had to extricate some victims from the mangled automobiles. Responding paramedics checked the conditions of all the occupants in the disabled vehicles. The article published online mentioned all parties found at the scene sustained minor injuries in the collision. Four ambulance responded to the accident, and transported multiple vehicles to the hospitals. Personal information on the patients remained undisclosed pending confirmation.
DUI Suspect Arrested After Car Accident in Fairfield
Detectives later determined the driver of the Honda was intoxicated at the time of the crash. Given that, police arrested the wrong-way driver on suspicion of driving under the influence.
Further investigation is ongoing on the collision that happened on Interstate 80 in Fairfield.
