Deadly Crash at Apple Valley Intersection

APPLE VALLEY, Calif. (Jan. 13, 2026) — Authorities are investigating a deadly traffic collision that occurred Monday afternoon at Waalew Road and Corwin Road in Apple Valley.

The crash was reported at approximately 4:36 p.m. on January 12, 2026, and involved a lime green Honda Civic and a gray Chevrolet pickup truck. According to the Apple Valley Police Department, both vehicles came to rest on the north side of Waalew Road following the impact.

Personnel from the Apple Valley Fire Protection District responded to the scene and located three patients. Two individuals suffered delayed injuries. A third victim, who was trapped inside the Honda Civic, was found in critical condition and required extensive extrication by firefighters.

Sheriff’s officials confirmed that one of the individuals involved in the collision died as a result of their injuries. However, detectives stated that alcohol and drugs did not appear to be contributing factors in the crash.

Waalew Road was closed in both directions while investigators processed the scene. The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and authorities said additional details will be released as they become available.
