Woman, 79, Struck, Killed in Highway 18
APPLE VALLEY, Calif. (Oct. 23, 2024) — A 79-year-old woman died Monday night in a pedestrian accident on Outer Highway 18, just south of Pohez Road in Apple Valley.
The hit-and-run crash occurred around 10:16 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 21st, according to a Victor Valley News Group report.
The Apple Valley Police Department responded to the scene where they located the injured female pedestrian lying in the roadway.
Investigators determined the suspect’s vehicle was traveling eastbound on Outer Highway 18 South when for unknown reasons they struck the pedestrian. The woman was walking eastbound on the south side of the roadway, VVNG said. The suspect fled the scene after the crash without stopping to help the woman.
Meanwhile, paramedics responded and rushed the woman to a hospital where she was treated for major injuries but died shortly after.
The Apple Valley pedestrian accident remains under investigation by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.
