BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (August 11, 2022 — A man riding a bicycle died early Wednesday morning in a car accident died on Oak Street in Bakersfield.

The traffic accident happened just after midnight on Wednesday morning, according to the Bakersfield Police Department.

Police officers responded to the intersection at Oak Street and 21st Street. They located the man with major injuries on the roadway. Paramedics responded and transferred him by ambulance to Kern Medical Center. He later died at the hospital.

Meanwhile, the driver involved in the crash stopped and investigators questioned them about the crash. Authorities do not suspect speed, drugs or alcohol were factors in the collision.

The fatal Bakersfield bicycle accident remains under investigation to determine fault.
