Amazon Truck Rear-ends Vehicle in Fatal Crash on Highway 99
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (March 22, 2022) — A fatal Bakersfield crash involving an Amazon semi-truck and a vehicle happened on Highway 99 at Merced Avenue.
The deadly crash happened in the southbound lanes of Hwy 99 about 4:41 a.m. on March 22nd, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A driver in an Amazon semi-truck told authorities they rear-ended a stopped vehicle in traffic lanes. The vehicle overturned next to the semi-truck near the railroad trucks.
At least one person died in the collision, but there are no further details in the CHP dispatch report.
Meanwhile, authorities are piecing together evidence to determine fault for the crash.
