Man Killed in Crash into Canal
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (June 20, 2023) — A fatal Bakersfield crash on South H Street and Berkshire Road happened early Tuesday morning in Kern County.
One man died when his vehicle became submerged in a canal after it collided with a second motorist.
The traffic accident occurred around 12:25 a.m. on June 20th, according to the Bakersfield Police Department.
Police responded to the scene where they located the driver of one of the cars trapped in their submerged vehicle in the canal, Bakersfield Now reports.
Several police officers pulled the man out of the water upon their arrival and paramedics performed CPR on the victim, but he died at the scene.
Meanwhile, the second motorist involved was not hurt in the crash and the person cooperated with the investigation.
Investigators are piecing together what happened and will determined the cause of the collision.
