Woman Walking Dog Killed in Comanche Drive Pedestrian Accident
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (Sept. 27, 2021) –A fatal Bakersfield pedestrian accident happened Monday morning on Comanche Drive north of Sunset Boulevard.
The deadly crash happened about 7:30 a.m. on Sept. 27th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A teenage driver in a gray Chrysler 300 heading southbound at roughly 55 mph when they struck and killed the 73-year-old woman and her dog. She was reportedly crossing Comanche Drive in a westerly direction. The victim wound up between the north and southbound lanes. She suffered major injuries in the collision.
Meanwhile, CHP officers and paramedics responded to the pedestrian accident on Comanche Drivejust north of Sunset Boulevard. However, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The Kern County coroner responded and will release the victim’s name after her family is notified.
The 17-year-old driver stopped and cooperated with investigators. A tow truck removed the vehicle for evidence.
Also, animal control workers came to remove the dog from the scene.
Investigators do not suspect drugs or alcohol played a factor with this crash, according to CHP.
The cause of the crash and liability remains under investigation.
