Man Struck, Killed on Niles Street in Bakersfield
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (Oct. 30, 2023) — A fatal pedestrian accident happened late Saturday night on Niles Street in Bakersfield.
A driver in a car struck a man crossing the roadway, just west of Barlow Street at around 10:46 p.m. on Oct. 28th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A 42-year-old woman driving a 2014 Nissan was traveling eastbound on Niles Street in the No. 1 lane when the male pedestrian wearing dark clothing was crossing the street outside of any marked crosswalks. The vehicle struck the pedestrian due to unknown circumstances and the driver called 911 for help, according to Bakersfield Now.
Paramedics responded to the scene to help the injured person and transport them to Kern Medical Center, but they later died at the hospital.
Authorities do not suspect alcohol and or drugs were a factor in the crash.
