Car Hits Two Pedestrians; One Killed
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (June 5, 2023) —A Bakersfield pedestrian accident on Union Avenue late Sunday night left one person dead and another injured.
The deadly collision occurred around 11:06 p.m. on June 4th in the Lakeview neighborhood, according to the Bakersfield Police Department.
Bakersfield police responded to the 600 block of Union Avenue and located a man and woman who were both struck by a vehicle, Bakersfield Now reports. The driver told authorities the pedestrians entered the road from the center median and were not in a crosswalk. An oncoming vehicle struck them in the northbound lanes of Union Avenue.
The woman suffered major injuries and died on scene. Paramedics transported the man to a nearby hospital where he remains in critical condition.
Meanwhile, the driver involved stopped their vehicle and they are cooperating with the investigation.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
