Bicyclist Killed in Crash at Center Street and Versailles Place
RIVERSIDE, Calif. (March 17, 2022) – A person riding a bicycle died in a suspected hit-and-run car accident early Wednesday morning at Center Street and Versailles Place in Riverside.
The fatal bicycle accident happened some time before 1:55 a.m. at the Riverside intersection, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Someone called 911 to report the bicycle accident. Police officers responded and found a person on the ground, off to the side of the road. Just down the street from the body, they also located a bicycle split in half as if it was hit by a vehicle, the report said. It’s unknown at this time what led up to the deadly crash, but the report did not mention any details about the motorist.
Paramedics responded, but sadly the unidentified person was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
The Riverside County Sheriff Coroner will identify the person after their relatives are notified.
The investigation into the bicycle accident on Center Street is ongoing.
