Bicycle Rider Struck and Killed on State Route 33

TAFT, Calif. (July 15, 2024) — A fatal bicycle accident happened early Monday morning on Highway 33, just south of Cadet Road, just south of Taft.

The deadly crash occurred at 1 a.m. on July 15th in Kern County, according to the California Highway Patrol.

An investigation is currently underway into the fatal collision between the bicyclist and a Toyota early Monday morning on State Route 33. The rider went down in traffic lanes and the other driver pulled over to the right shoulder.

The Taft Police Department sent deputies to the scene. Paramedics also responded and confirmed the victim’s death, but there are no further details.

The case remains under investigation.
