Fatal Bicycle Accident Highway 89, Hobart Mills Road in Truckee

TRUCKEE, Calif. (June 20, 2025) — A fatal bicycle accident happened Friday afternoon on southbound Highway 89 at Hobart Mills Road in the Truckee area.

A driver in a small red pickup truck reportedly “ran over the bicyclist” around 12:12 p.m. on June 20th, at mile marker 8, according to the California Highway Patrol incident log.

The driver reportedly stopped and paramedics from Cal Fire responded to the scene where they located the victim in the roadway. Unfortunately, the person riding the bicycle died at the scene.

Finally, investigators are working to determine fault for the bicycle accident on Highway 89 in Truckee. Both lanes of the highway were closed down for measurements and will reopen when the investigation is completed.
