Fatal Victorville Bicycle Accident on Silica Drive
VICTORVILLE, Calif. (June 15, 2022) — A motorist struck and killed a bicycle rider in a crash early Wednesday at Silica Drive and Hesperia Road in Victorville.
Additionally, the collision occurred about 12:48 a.m. on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, according to the Victorville Police Department.
A driver in a Ford Explorer SUV reportedly struck a bicycle rider from behind as both traveled west on Silica Drive, police said.
Upon impact, the cyclist was thrown from the bicycle onto the roadway.
Deputies from the Victorville Station responded to the scene with crews from the Victorville Fire Department and American Medical Response, police said in a statement.
Sadly, the cyclist sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. Also, no other injuries reported at the time of the collision.
Meanwhile, an investigation is underway by the Victorville Station’s Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT).
