Motorist Killed in Rollover Crash on Big Pines Highway in Antelope Valley Area
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (April 20, 2021) – A fatal Big Pines Highway rollover crash Monday night left a 29-year-old motorist dead near Valyermo in the Antelope Valley area of Los Angeles County.
The Littlerock woman reportedly died at the scene of the 7:35 p.m. crash on April 19th, according to the Los Angeles coroner’s office and the California Highway Patrol. At this time, her name will not be released until her relatives are notified.
Meanwhile, a 33-year-old Palmdale woman who was a passenger in the 2009 Ford Focus was airlifted to a hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries, according to the CHP.
Big Pines Highway Rollover Crash
Police say the crash happened when the Littlerock woman allegedly made an unsafe turn. The Ford Focus drifted onto the right shoulder before it veered to the left across the eastbound lane. Next, the car went through a barbed-wire fence before it overturned down an embankment.
Authorities investigating the Big Pines Highway crash stated the driver was not wearing a seat belt. During the collision she was ejected and suffered severe injuries.
The passenger, however, was wearing a seat belt, the CHP reported.
Finally, investigators will seek to determine if alcohol or drugs were factors in the Big Pines Highway rollover crash.
