Man Killed, Woman Injured in Highway 101 Crash
SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. (July 14, 2023) — A fatal Buellton crash on Highway 101 happened Thursday, just south of Jonata Park Road.
The 3-vehicle collision occurred around 3:45 p.m. on July 13th in the Santa Ynez Valley, according to a California Highway Patrol dispatch.
The drivers of a white Toyota Tundra pickup truck, a silver SUV and a second pickup truck were involved in the collision. The pickup truck wound up in the center divider and the SUV suffered major front-end damage before it landed up an embankment.
Additionally, Santa Barbara County firefighters responded and located the driver of the SUV with major injuries, but sadly he died at the scene, according to a report by Noozhawk.
Meanwhile, a woman riding as a passenger in the Toyota pickup truck suffered moderate injuries and was trapped in the vehicle. Paramedics rushed her to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. Also, the driver from the Toyota declined medical help for his injuries.
The name of the man who died was not released, pending notification of his family members.
Finally, the cause of the Buellton crash on Highway 101 remains under investigation.
