
1 Dead, 2 Injured in Buena Park Crash on I-5 Freeway
BUENA PARK, Calif. (March 28, 2023) — A multi-vehicle Buena Park crash Monday night on the Interstate 5 Freeway left a San Diego man dead and two others with injuries.
The 33-year-old man who died was riding as a passenger in one of two vehicles that collided and came to a stop in the No. 2 lane of the southbound I-5 Freeway. He died after a third vehicle crashed into the two stopped vehicles roughly a minute after the initial crash.
The deadly crash occurred just before 11 p.m. on March 27th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The passenger suffered fatal injuries at the scene, but the two drivers involved in the initial crash suffered minor to major injuries. Alex Shilvock, 26, who was driving the Toyota Matrix, suffered major injuries and was among the two drivers taken to a hospital.
Meanwhile, the driver of the third vehicle did not report any injuries.
The CHP is heading up the investigation into the Buena Park crash on the 5 Freeway, but at this time they do not suspect impairment was a factor in this crash, the CHP said.
