Pedestrian Struck, Killed on 134 Freeway in Burbank
BURBANK, Calif. (Sept. 6, 2023) – A fatal Burbank pedestrian accident happened Wednesday morning on the Ventura 134 Freeway, just west of South Buena Vista Drive.
The deadly crash occurred around 3:07 a.m. on Sept. 6th, according to the California Highway Patrol. Police were alerted there was a person wearing all black walking in the westbound No. 2 lane.
The person was struck by a white Toyota Prius in the westbound lanes of the Ventura Freeway, police said.
California Highway Patrol officers responded and found the victim lying in the No. 2 lane of the freeway, according to the CHP.
Unfortunately, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim’s age, gender and identity were not released, pending notification of next of kin. The driver in the Prius stopped and is cooperating with authorities. A tow truck removed the car due to left front-end damage and it will be stored for evidence.
Meanwhile, authorities closed down all westbound traffic lanes of the freeway as well as the Buena Vista on ramp for several hours.
The CHP is heading up the investigation into what happened.
