 Fatal Cajon Junction Crash State Route 138, Rastall Road (Aug. 1)Driver Killed in Crash with Jackknifed Big Rig Truck

CAJON JUNCTION, Calif. (August 1, 2021) —  A fatal Cajon Junction crash on State Route 138 left a pickup truck dead after colliding with a jackknifed truck.

The collision happened about 4:06 a.m. on Sunday, August 1st on Highway 138, just north of the Cajon Pass, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A  jack-knifed big rig and a pickup truck both became engulfed in flames following the fatal Cajon Junction crash.

It’s unknown what led up to the 2-vehicle collision near Rastall Road just south of Phelan.

California Highway Patrol patrol officers responded and found the the big rig truck driver outside of his vehicle. He began wandering around the highway after exiting the overturned truck.

Also, the pickup truck driver’s body was located inside the burning vehicle. The San Bernardino County coroner responded to the scene.

Meanwhile, authorities pronounced the pickup truck driver dead at 4:40 a.m. on scene.

Witnesses are urged to contact the California Highway Patrol-San Bernardino.
