Deadly Crash Involving Semi-Truck and Pickup
CAMARILLO, Calif. (June 14, 2022) — A two-vehicle fatal Camarillo crash happened Tuesday on State Route Highway 118 at Center School Road.
The collision occurred about 9:20 a.m. on June 14th, according to a California Highway Patrol.
The drivers involved in the crash were a 2010 Volvo semi truck hauling lumber, a 2006 Toyota Tundra and a 1971 Izusu Elf truck, CHP reported.
Authorities said the semi-truck was traveling eastbound on Highway 118 prior to the crash. Both the Toyota and Izusu were traveling in the opposite direction. A 30-year-old Pacoima man in the Toyota attempted to pass the Isuzu. At some point, the driver of the Isuzu lost control of his vehicle and collided head-on with the semi truck.
The Ventura County Fire Department responded to the scene to help those injured in the collision, but sadly a 76-year-old man from the Isuzu died after the accident.
Furthermore, paramedics helped one person with moderate injuries and four others with minor injuries, according to fire officials. The name of the person who died will be released by the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The CHP report stated there is debris in traffic lanes and vehicles blocking the roadway. They requested a hard closure for the roadway to conduct an investigation into what happened.
The investigation into the semi-truck versus pickup crash is underway. Witnesses to the Camarillo crash on Highway 118 may contact the CHP.
