Oxnard Man, 40, Killed in Collision on US 101 Freeway
CAMARILLO, Calif. (Dec. 31, 2024) — A 40-year-old Oxnard man died in a hit-and-run crash early Tuesday morning on the northbound Ventura 101 Freeway in Camarillo.
The California Highway Patrol reported the collision at around 1 a.m. on Dec. 31st between a semi-truck and a car at US 101 and Carmen Drive in Camarillo.
However, the crash involved the drivers of a gray 2010 Ford Mustang and a black 2007 Lexus IS 250, police said.
Authorities investigating the crash stated the Lexus driver was traveling at high speed before crashing into a concrete wall, overturning and becoming disabled in traffic lanes.
An oncoming Ford Mustang crashed into the vehicle and the driver exited the vehicle and fled on foot.
Meanwhile, firefighters extricated the Lexus driver and took him to a hospital where he later died.
Investigators are working on the case and searching for the suspect who fled.
