Driver Killed in Collision at Highway 101 and San Marcos Road Wednesday
San Miguel, CA (September 22, 2021) – A fatal car accident occurred Wednesday in the area of Highway 101 and San Marcos Road, the KSBY News reported.
Our sources indicated a pickup truck was traveling north on the highway at about 12:45 p.m. According to an article published online, the motorist experience a tire failure while approaching San Marcos Road.
Officials said the driver apparently applied the brakes and steered to the left. As a result, the pickup truck crossed over the center median and drove into the southbound lanes of the freeway.
When rescue teams arrived at the site, they found the vehicle overturned. Responding firefighters worked extensively to extricate the driver pinned in the wreckage. After they successfully freed the victim, and helicopter airlifted the patient to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center. The 38-year-old man later sadly died. Pending confirmation and notification of next of kin, the name of the deceased remained undisclosed.

Authorities added one passenger suffered a broken arm and possibly broken shoulder in the collision. Meanwhile, a second passenger sustained minor injuries and received treatment at the scene.
At this time, detectives continue to investigate the precise cause of the fatal car accident in San Miguel.
