Deadly, Semi-Truck Crash on Highway 99 in Galt
SACRAMENTO COUNTY, Calif. (May 19, 2022) — A fatal car accident on the northbound Highway 99 happened Thursday morning near the Simmerhorn Road off ramp in Galt.
The two-vehicle collision occurred about 11:50 a.m. on May 19th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials say a driver in a gray minivan rear-ended the parked semi-truck on the northbound shoulder of the roadway. Roughly three quarters of the minivan crashed underneath the semi-truck. A fire erupted from the crash and the semi-truck driver attempted to put it out with a fire extinguisher.

The Sacramento Fire Department rushed to the scene to help those involved in the collision. Unfortunately, Richard Jooha Lim, 42, of Stockton, died in the collision, but it’s unknown if others suffered injuries. The report did not mention how many people were in the vehicle at the time of the collision.
The Sacramento County Sheriff Coroner identified Richard Lim on its website.
Investigators are working on the case and will determine fault for the collision.
