
FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (August 7, 2023) — A fatal, two-vehicle car accident happened at West Mount Whitney Avenue and South Howard Avenue on Saturday night in Fresno.
The collision occurred around 11:02 p.m. on August 5th, just east of Five Points, according to a California Highway Patrol dispatch.
It’s unknown what led up to the collision between the drivers of a silver Nissan SUV and a grey Honda, but there is a one-way stop sign for traffic on S. Howard entering W. Mount Whitney. Both vehicles suffered major damage and were undrivable.
Police responded and closed down the roadway. The vehicles wound up on the south shoulder and authorities requested paramedics report to the scene.
Sadly, at least one person died at the scene and the Fresno County Sheriff Coroner was on its way, the report said.
Tow trucks removed the vehicles and investigators are piecing together what happened to determine fault for the car accident at Mount Whitney Avenue and Howard Avenue in Fresno.
