One Passenger Engulfed in Flames in Fatal Crash on State Route 247
JOHNSON VALLEY, Calif. (July 15, 2024) — A fatal head on car accident happened Monday near Lucerne Valley on State Route 247 near Rattlesnake Road.
The traffic accident occurred at around 2:30PM on July 15th 2024, according to the California Highway Patrol and Victor Valley News Group.
Two vehicles, a truck carrying propane and a passenger vehicle, hit each other head on, on State Route 247 in Johnson Valley California near Lucerne Valley. Both vehicles instantly caught on fire. The propane truck was carrying small canisters. This led to multiple explosions prior to the arrival of the fire department and paramedics. Both of the vehicles that were engulfed in flames became major traffic hazards ceasing traffic in both lanes of the highway.
The Paramedics arrived on scene and discovered a passenger on fire. The San Bernardino Fire Department reported two passengers were transported to a nearby medical facility for treatment of unknown injuries following the crash. In addition, a coroner was also requested due to a passenger being pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators are working to determine who is at fault for the fatal accident on State Route 247.
