Fatal Car Accident on Stockton Boulevard, Highway 99 in Galt

SACRAMENTO, Calif., (Sept. 29, 2026) — A driver died early Tuesday morning when their car collided with a construction truck on Highway 99, veered across all traffic lanes and crashed off the highway into a big rig truck on Stockton Boulevard in Galt.

The incident was reported at approximately 4:08 AM at 12916 Stockton Blvd, close to the intersection with West Stockton, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The big rig and the car both became fully engulfed in flames following the collision. The collision reportedly caused an explosion, and heavy smoke was observed at the scene.

Emergency responders, including firefighters and Galt Police Department officers, were promptly dispatched to the scene. Firefighters arrived on scene at 4:17 AM, working swiftly to contain the fire. The coroner was notified, indicating the severity of the incident.

Unfortunately, the collision resulted in a fatality in the car, but there are no other known injuries at this time. The identity of the victim(s) involved has not yet been released pending family notification. The CHP is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash and is urging any witnesses to come forward with information that might aid in the investigation.
