Woman Killed in Crash with Bus in West Athens Area
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (May 20, 2021) — A fatal car versus bus crash happened Thursday morning at Imperial Highway and Western Avenue near Los Angeles Southwest College.
The crash happened about 8:55 a.m. on May 20th in the West Athens area of Los Angeles, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The CHP reported a black Hyundai Elantra crashed into the back of the bus. Additionally, the report states the female driver allegedly ran a red traffic light.
The Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to the scene. Upon their arrival, the woman driver was found with no pulse. Sadly, she died at the scene of the bus crash, the report said.
Meanwhile, police issued a SigAlert for two hours due to the northbound lanes of Western Avenue being blocked by the fatal bus crash.
It’s unknown if there were witnesses, but police are working to determine fault for the crash.
